Ayahuasca Timeline

This history timeline covers key moments in ayahuasca’s journey from its mythic and evolutionary origins to its global popularity. Like all attempts at describing the past, this history is simply a history and not the history of ayahuasca. While putting it together, we quickly became humbled by the enormity of the task at hand.
The timeline is a work in progress. If you want to get involved and help fill the gaps, please get in touch at learn[at]kahpi.net
To explore more indigenous perspectives on ayahuasca, please see the Indigenous Voices section of our Magazine. We hope you will enjoy the Timeline and that it will illuminate a more realistic vision of this special Amazonian brew.
Many people were involved in researching , writing, and developing different parts of this time machine. The main contributors include Alex K. Gearin, Gayle Highpine, Giorgio Samorini, Xavier Francuski, Evgenia Fotiou, and Sam Woolfe. Gratitude also goes to the many colleagues and advisors who offered writing, feedback, and edits on different entries, Eric Swenson and Holly Weese for editorial work, and Danny Stanley and Alicia Narváez for the art.
