

2011 – Ayahuasca Vine Becomes Illegal in the United Kingdom

In September, 2011, Peter Aziz, a self-styled shaman who openly offered ayahuasca ceremonies to the general public for a fee, was sentenced to 15-months imprisonment for producing and distributing a Class A drug. This legal precedent established that, in the UK, ayahuasca falls under the same regulations as DMT.
